Virtual Groceries Shopping Path Scheduler Optimizer

Project Description :

Nowadays, people are very busy with their daily works which caused them no time for their groceries shopping. Luckily, with the current technologies, there are many supermarkets such as Tesco that provides delivery service for the groceries shopping. Unfortunately, the increasing number of online shopping made the deliverers difficult to handle all orders at one time. Since there are a lot of address to be delivered, it can be more worst if they do not have a proper schedule. Therefore, this study proposed a system that can find and schedule the sequence of location, so that the delivery service can arrive on time. The developed V-GROS is a mobile compatible web-based system that applied the genetic algorithm in finding the shortest routes and managing groceries schedule. The V-GROS can generate the optimal schedule for the deliverers in order to assist the deliverer managing the delivery process. From a series of testing that we have done through the system, we found that the combination between the order one crossover and the inverse mutation is the best combination of genetic operators. The overall performance of this system is considered competitively reliable in providing the delivery schedule. For future work on this project, we will apply multi-objective optimizations that can include other factors that will affect the speed of the delivery, such as, traffic jams, road speed limits and real time speed. It will also be available in mobile applications.
